Where ever Senator Bukola Saraki is right now.....i am not sure he is thinking about what the rest of the world thinks about him. If he is truely thinking about that, he would have responded to the request of the Nigerian Police to assist in the investigations. This is Nigeria and it is why it easy for a former Governor of Kwara State and a Senator of the Federal Repulic of Nigeria to shun the Nigeria Police invitation.
Senator Bukola Saraki yesterday shunned the invitation of the Special Fraud Unit of the
Nigerian Police over the controversial N7.5bn loan write-off granted to
some of his companies by the former management of Intercontinental Bank
Plc. Saraki was expected to report yesterday, but sources within the
force said he had sent in a letter asking for more time to enable him
attend the funeral of a close relative.
It is a shame and very embarassing that someone of that standing will set such an example. The Senator has gone quiet on his twitter handle (@bukolasaraki). This was the last thing he said 25/04/2012.
"I have respect for rule of law and all its organs within our democratic
setting. However we must decry use of same organs to oppress and malign
our constitutional rights".
When a Senator is not eager to help the police with investigations...who then should? The police says he has a case to answer, why exactly, is it proving all too difficult? We assume he has nothing to hide...and we hope the Senator will have respect for the Law. Nobody is supposed to be a bove the law but this is Nigeria....it is not a new thing. Despite all the talk on twitter, he is yet to respond. It is not his fault...!
