“There are downsides to looking this pretty: Why women hate me for being beautiful.” THE DAILY MAIL, (April 2nd, 2012)
"While
I’m no Elle Macpherson, I’m tall, slim, blonde and, so I’m often told, a
good-looking woman. I know how lucky I am. But there are downsides to
being pretty — the main one being that other women hate me for no other
reason than my lovely looks.
If you’re a woman
reading this, I’d hazard that you’ve already formed your own opinion
about me — and it won’t be very flattering. For while many doors have
been opened (literally) as a result of my looks, just as many have been
metaphorically slammed in my face — and usually by my own sex.
I’m not smug and I’m no
flirt, yet over the years I’ve been dropped by countless friends who
felt threatened if I was merely in the presence of their other halves.
If their partners dared to actually talk to me, a sudden chill would
descend on the room."You must have heard about the new pretty woman in town... what about her? Is she really that desperate for acttention or what? I never heard of her until her famous article. She is an instant celebrity. The idea that she is hated because of her beauty is funny. People, especially women shuold be happy in thier skin. Every one is beautiful in thier own way....just don't get too obsessed with yourself. Perhaps, she didn't know what to write about then.
In her own words on British Television show THIS MORNING:
41-year-old writer Samantha admit that she was "very good looking"
"You do believe you are very good looking?" he asked.
"It’s not that I believe it – I believe the perception of it, and the perception of how men approach women," she said.
"Do I think I’m good looking? Yes I do. Is that a crime?
"Women do not like attractive women. I suggested the article after waving at one of my neighbours in France, someone whose boys play at my house, and she totally ignored me.
"It got me thinking about how the Sisterhood attack beautiful women," Samantha added, much to the chagrain of TV presenter Ruth Langsford, who said she was "offended" by the statement.
"Neither me nor my friends have any problem with beauty," she said in response. "But we do not like arrogance." "This whole experience has proven my thesis," she said. "Women do not like attractive women.
"This is proven by the thousands of vile messages on my personal email account, on Twitter, and on my telephone answer machine.
Whatever she was trying to achieve is just way over the top. She is on her own with this opinion!
OBASANJO...DENIES THAT 3RD TERM GIST
"If I wanted a third term, I know how to go about it. And there is
nothing I wanted that God has not given me. So, if I wanted a third
term, I know how to go about it and I would have gotten it,” Obasanjo
said with emphasis.
He said those who spoke about his alleged move to secure a third term,
including his then deputy, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, have never mentioned
that he discussed the issue with anyone or the name of anyone but have
only said they knew there was a plan for tenure elongation.
If you want to hear the full gist, tune to Channels Television by 2:30pm (Nigerian Time) to watch the interview.
He said the bill was initiated by the National Assembly, adding that the
then Chairman of the joint committee of the National Assembly on the
review of the constitution, Senator Ibrahim Mantu, never said he
initiated or mandated the committee to include the clause in the
proposed amendment.
He added: “There is no one that is close to me that can say I even mentioned to him that I was interested in a third term.”
He added: “There is no one that is close to me that can say I even mentioned to him that I was interested in a third term.”
Nigeria have thier opinion and whatever that interview is meant to achieve really does not count. Not like 'BABA' really cares what Nigerians think...he has lived through his tenure. Nigerians have other things to worry about than verify if Obasanjo orchestrated the 3rd term or not.
MALAWI PRESIDENT DIES
Malawi President Bingu wa Mutharika has died after a heart attack, medical and government sources said on Friday.
The 78-year-old was rushed to a Lilongwe hospital on Thursday after collapsing but was dead on arrival, the sources said.
Mutharika, a former World Bank Economist who had been accused of
despotism and mishandling the economy in his final months. Reports indicated that he had been grooming his Foreign Minister brother Peter as his successor Peter Mutharika had tended to deputise in his brother's absence.
Strange...the same wind of recycled leadership sweeping across Africa. A leader with huge potential comes to power but halfway through, things change.....they loose credibility.
The People of Malawi should be breathing some sighs of relief...i guess...

This country....Rocket launchers? hmmm...h, what do you know? Everyday, you hear all manner of news and you just wonder where we are headed as a country.
Security operatives Thursday seized 51 rocket launchers in a house in
Barunde area of Gombe metropolis which was being used to manufacture
rockets and improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reported that the raid, carried out by
State Security Service (SSS) personnel and the army, came a few hours
after four persons were arrested with 60 explosive devices in another
part of the city.
The Director of SSS in Gombe State, Mr. Bitrus Asha, who conducted
journalists round the “factory”, said one man had been arrested in the
house.
Asha disclosed that 51 rocket launchers, 48 bags of fertiliser, sulphuric acid and cortex items were recovered.
Other items recovered are detonators, remote control devices, different
types of chemicals, six containers for preparation of IEDs and other
items.
Like joke, this Boko Haram issue is getting deeper and bigger by the day.Infact, it is a major topic. Only God knows what the next discovery will be. Nobody is safe, we are only protected by God. When you watch these things on TV,in news or in Movies....it becomes like film trick when you hear talks like this. This is definely action and Horror movie playing itself. Don't you just wonder...how our leaders still manage to fill up thier private pockets when people are not safe. Corruption and insecurity are just playing themselves out turn by turn in country. Armed robbery is on the rise on the highways and neighbourhoods. Nigeria!
MIKEL OBI....PLAY BALL, DON'T TALK!
Can someone please tell Mikel Obi to step up his game and stop predicting Barca's fall? This is someone who has not been so great with the ball these days and many people are not impressed with his performance. The best thing is for him to play and say nothing. Let us not close our eyes to the facts..... Chelsea has a big fight with Barca...it is not one of those teams you can brush aside. He really shuold stop forming landlord like the rest...they have made thier name but he is still way behind. I remember when Mikel Obi, Messi and Taiye Taiwo where compared because they played really well but today... the difference is clear.
Chelsea will now host
Barcelona on April 18 in another
semi-final match-up in the same competition with the return game holding
six days later.
“We’ve met at this stage before and they scaled through. It’s our time now to do same to them,” Mikel told MTNFootball.com.
“Barcelona are a great team, no doubt.
They are the best now, but that does not mean they are invincible as
they have lost games this season, so we can beat them.
“We just have to win the first leg at
home while keeping a clean sheet and then go to Barcelona to wrap it up.
We have top quality players who can make this happen.”
When asked about the two semi-finals in a television interview in the tunnel straight after the final whistle, Mourinho told TeleMadrid, “For me the big question is knowing who will play against Barca in the final.
“It will be a great semi-final, Bayern against Real Madrid, and the best team will go on to play against Barca.”
Mourinho then walked away from his
interviewer, who quickly followed up by asking the Portuguese why he was
so certain that Barcelona would be in the final.
“Because they are very good.” the Blancos boss added, before abruptly ending the interview.
Mikel please...just play..don't talk! Just case you have to swallow your words again. Save your comments till after the match.
AUGUSTUS NATIONAL GOLF CLUB & OTHER THINGS
Once the society classifies you....then it can find reason to keep it that way. What exactly is the reason why women cannot be admitted as members in this age and time? Helloooooooo... this is 2012. The whole talk is just funny and there are no reasons why it is this way (There should not be any). Sometimes, when you hear these things you just wonder how deep prejudice has eaten into our society.... I would not have expected a thing like this to happen in the US...it is a free world over there but what do you know? people and thier rights!
Slavery and gender discrimination is really huge as much as Racism....these things are things that just happen. Nobody plans to be born female, to be black or white, to have rich parents or be any tribe....it happens to you. In Africa, tribalism is huge...it has done so much harm and it is totally baseless. All that divide and rule stuffs just makes it worse.
Augusta National Golf club (Georgia) is one of the many things under the sun that i cannot understand. That they are dragging thier feet to admit a woman. Barack Obama has even voiced his opinion:
"His personal opinion is that women should be admitted," White House
Press Secretary Jay Carney said, though added it was up to the
prestigious club to make decisions on its all male members policy.
Carney said that Obama, an avid golfer who has two young daughters, personally told him of his opinion.
Now the focus is upon IBM chief executive officer Virginia Rometty
possibly becoming the club's first woman member. Rometty became IBM's
first woman CEO on January 1 and her four predecessors were all given
Augusta National membership.
IBM is among the sponsors of the
Masters and for nearly 30 years, IBM chief executives have been granted
memberships, though not on any certain timetable. And as a private club,
there is no legal obligation to have women as members.
Augusta National chairman Billy Payne repeatedly dismissed questions
about the club's membership policy at his annual Masters news conference
on Wednesday.
"All issues of membership are now and have been
historically subject to the private deliberations of the members," Payne
said, repeating the statement in the same fashion several times when
repeatedly pressed on the matter. Just those things you really cannot understand why.
We still cannot forget that Trayvon Martin case.....There are talks on racism being involved. On slavery, i recently read a piece about an indian cuople who locked thier 13 year old maid while they travelled for holiday. Who would have imagined that an educated couple will do such a thing in this age? that is the many pain, injustice under the sun. She did not choose to born poor but then.....that is the condition she has found herself. When you belong to a class...you need to fight to survive because life will not always give you that fairness. A lot of this nclassification ahs been passed on from generations and the tradition passes on without anyone questioning them.
