PATIENCE JONATHAN AND THOSE 200 CARS

Nigeria's First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan  have been in the news  these days on controversial topics. 

1. Her appointment as a Permanent Secretary in Bayelsa state is yet to settle down 

2. The  squabble with the former first lady, Turai Yar’Adua over a property located in the central business district of Abuja. Although the Attorney General of the Federation has asked the court handling the case to discontinue further hearing, and the case would now be settled out of court.

3.Recently, she was in the news over the rumoured purchase of 200 cars for the African First Lady’s Summit. A newspaper had reported that the Federal Government procured a total of 200 “exotic cars” for the African First Ladies Summit, which formally opens in Abuja.

But, The Presidency in a quick statement signed yesterday by Presidential spokesman, Dr. Reuben Abati,wanted to clear the rumours and straighten up the facts.

The full statement reads;

 “The true facts of the matter are as follows: The African First Ladies Peace Mission which is holding its summit in Abuja is a Non-Governmental Organisation. Its activities are funded by stakeholders and members of the private sector who support and identify with its objectives.

“In accordance with its modus operandi, the AFLPM set up several committees, including a finance committee to raise funds and sponsorship for the organisation of its Abuja Summit.

“As part of its own contributions to the successful hosting of the summit by the First Lady, Patience Jonathan, Coscharis Motors Ltd.  offered to provide some cars for the event at no cost to the organisers or the Federal Government of Nigeria.

“Under an agreement signed by the committee and Coscharis Motors, all the cars will be returned to the company after the summit.”

The reality is that.....it does not solves any of our problems here in Nigeria....and it is not an impossible scenario. We know the type of country Nigeria is and i will not be suprised it is proven otherwise. For now, we take Mr Abati for his words.  Madam First Lady is obviously living her life.....i guess it is her time.

THE THING BETWEEN KRISTEN STEWART & ROBERT PATTINSON

K-Stewart was photographed kissing her married "Snow White and the Huntsman" director Rupert Sanders is not new.... and yes Kristen Stewart (22) cheated on Robert Pattinson (26) ......as much as it is suprising. it is not suprising at the same time. The things that goes on behind the closed doors in Hollywood.......are not things many of us know unless the cover gets blown. It is only those who are caught red handed that suffer.....and its only those you hear that shocks you, how about those ones we have not heard and will never get the chance to hear????

Who would have thought that K-Stewart will do that to Rob? It all seemed perfect and you know people just loved them..... but a lot of things are not what they seem. How exactly does a 22year old hottie get caught up in a fling with a man in his forties?  and how does a man married to a model succumbs to such a temptation? These things can get messy sometimes and you never know.... Hollywood isn't as perfect as it looks. I guess on movie sets, emotions do run wild.....

"I'm deeply sorry for the hurt and embarrassment I've caused to those close to me and everyone this has affected,This momentary indiscretion has jeopardized the most important thing in my life, the person I love and respect the most, Rob. I love him, I love him, I'm so sorry."

  

Rob may be having some quiet thinking right now.....the feeling of being cheated on is hurtful and annoying. I am so much of his fan but i feel really bad for a guy of his type who had this to say about cheating:

When Us Weekly  asked the British actor whether he could ever date a married woman, Pattinson replied, "Life is not black and white. There are married couples that never see each other. Is that marriage?"

On Cheating he said; "But there's a thing I've never got: That is, why do people cheat?"
"I can understand the impulse," Pattinson continued. "But not how you can keep two relationships going at the same time for long."
Before K-Stew scandalised herself in this supposed fling, pals told Us Weekly that Pattinson was preparing to propose to his Stewart.

"I'm not the casual-affair kind of guy," he told Vanity Fair. "If I choose to be with someone, it's because I really want it. When I have a relationship, I'm 100 percent into it." (Ouch! it really hurts)

Liberty Ross,  Sanders wife also appeared in the film – as the mother of Stewart’s character.Yesterday, just as news of Stewart and Sanders’ affair broke, Ross tweeted a famous quote from Marilyn Monroe, "Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.” That post was followed by a single word, “Wow,” and then Ross deleted her account soon after.  I guess, the tweet meant just more than words to her. 

Sanders  also issued one of his own. "I am utterly distraught about the pain I have caused my family,My beautiful wife and heavenly children are all I have in this world. I love them with all my heart. I am praying that we can get through this together."

This is a marriage relationship....forgivesness as hard as it is remains the best thing!

SHOCKING...THE DEATH OF GHANIAN PRESIDENT

It sounds like those rumours that run wild on the net but this time its true that Ghanian president John Atta Mills, who won international praise as leader of a stable model democracy in Africa, died suddenly on Tuesday. "It is with a heavy heart ... that we announce the sudden and untimely death of the president of the Republic of Ghana," a statement by the president's office said.


Mills, who celebrated his 68th birthday on Saturday, died a few hours after being taken ill, but no further details were given. A presidential aide, who asked not to be named, said the president had complained of pains on Monday evening and died early on Tuesday afternoon when his condition worsened.
Mills had returned from medical checks in the United States a few weeks ago.
 Trained as a lawyer and taxation expert,
Ghana's election commission said December's presidential and parliamentary elections would go ahead as planned.
"The election calendar remains unchanged – it's purely a party matter," election chief Kwadwo Afari-Gyan told Reuters, explaining that it was up to the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) to find a candidate to replace Mills.

Mills had served as vice-president to President Jerry Rawlings, a fiery former coup leader, who stood down in 2000 after two elected terms under the democratic constitution Rawlings himself had introduced.
Mills's 2008 victory was his third attempt at the presidency. He had lost twice to John Kufuor in elections in 2000 and 2004.

 Vice-President John Dramani Mahama has taken the presidential oath of office just hours after officials announced the country's leader had died.

IBRAHIMOVICH HAPPY AT PSG!

Ibra is definitely happy at PSG...in his own words....

"I consider this team as the same level as other teams I have played for," he said. "But we have to go out and show it on the pitch. If you look on paper we are definitely up there. But we have to show it. We have to win.

"Now that the dream has become reality everyone is talking about Ligue 1. Everyone should be positive about this. But it’s up to us to prove it now. We have to win."

Ibrahimovic’s agent said Sunday that Serie A has lost its last remaining star, and Ibrahimovic agrees.

"I came here because I see the future here. I don’t see the future in Italy," he said. "What happens in Italy is their problem now. Losing two big stars like me and Thiago Silva is a big thing for the club and the championship.

"For sure the Italian championship without us will be more poor, but I don’t know if it will have less quality. What I know now is that with us the French championship will be better and more watched in the world."

"I want to thank PSG and Leonardo," Ibrahimovic said. "They made something impossible possible and now I am very happy. It’s a big step in my career, another dream come true.

"I know there’s been a big media interest in this. It’s been more intense than when I moved to Barcelona. I’m very excited in this project. I’m here to make history and I will enjoy all the trophies we bring home."

"It seems that I will finish my career here but that’s what I said at Milan too," the 30-year-old Ibrahimovic said. "You never know what will happen. But I’m not thinking about that at the moment, I’m thinking about winning during my time here."

"I come to a dream team and the dream team will continue to grow," Ibrahimovic said. "They will do everything to win and I want to be part of that. I’m going to be playing with the best players in the world. They’ve also bought the best defender in the world, Thiago Silva, and as long as I have him behind me I don’t need to look back.

Italian media has said that Ibrahimovic was forced out of Milan after the club decided the fee for an ageing player was too good to turn down.

"I’m very happy I was there. Milan gave me my smile back," Ibrahimovic said. "I will always have very good memories of Milan. I was very happy. I don’t want to put a shadow over my time at Milan, they made it very easy for me to come to PSG.

"I thank them and I wish them all the luck. They are a great club and I’m sure they will continue to win; they did it without me as well as with me. I did my max as an individual and for the team. I have nothing negative to say about them."

The club’s Qatari owners have already signed Ibrahimovic’s former Milan teammate Thiago Silva and Napoli’s Ezequiel Lavezzi this preseason as well as midfielder Marco Verratti, who was also unveiled Wednesday after completing his move from Pescara.

PSG’s huge outlay last season included spending a French record €42 million ($55.4 million) on Argentine playmaker Javier Pastore, as well as prizing away winger Jeremy Menez from Roma, midfielder Mohamed Sissoko from Juventus, defender Maxwell from Barcelona and midfielder Thiago Motta from Inter Milan.

Ibrahimovic joined Milan from Barcelona on loan in 2010 and the move was made permanent the following year. With 28 goals, Ibrahimovic was Serie A’s top scorer last season — a feat he also achieved with Inter in 2009.

 PSG has paid a reported €20 million ($25 million) for Ibrahimovic, taking its summer spending on new players to an estimated €112 million ($137 million). Ibrahimovic has signed a three-year contract with PSG, worth a reported €14 million ($17 million) net a year, €2 million more than he earned at Milan.

ONE REASON WHY LAGOS IS DIFFERENT

I like Lagos for many reasons....one being the Governor, Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN). With all his short comings, he got this one right....it is an encouragement for a country plagued by leaders who rarely motivate or inspire us. This incident gladdens my heart.

The Lagos state Governor, Babatunde Fashola on Tuesday arrested a Military Col. Ki Yusuf and Staff Sergent, A J Adeomi for driving on the  Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) lane.
The soldiers were accosted on the BRT lane at the Outer Marina in Central Lagos. Col. Yusuf was driving in an army green Peugeot 406 with registration number BO1 – 150 NA. Staff Sergeant Adeomi drove in a black Toyota Camry.
As Mr Fashola moved towards the oncoming vehicle,  Col. Yusuf came down from his car, saluted severally and began muttering: “I am sorry; very, very sorry”
The Governor said: “Why, as a senior military officer, would you choose to break the law instead of preserving it?”
Trust Lagosians, they did not miss the action.
Answering questions from reporters after the incident, the governor described as “very unfortunate” the fact that those who ought to stand in defence of the democratic values of the nation are the ones violating the law.
He, however, added: “But it signifies my commitment and the commitment of the Lagos State Government that all those who will not comply with our laws should leave our state. We will not back down.
“There is a zero tolerance for lawlessness. There is zero tolerance for breach of our regulations and we are going to do more of this. We are going to take control of our traffic. We cannot build our way out of traffic congestion; our responsibility is to manage traffic and manage congestion”.
Insisting that people must behave well, Mr Fashola said: “I don’t use the BRT lane; I sit down in traffic and I expect everyone who wants to drive his car to do the same. The alternative is to use the bus.
“The bus is for those who cannot afford to buy cars. They have the right also to use the road and we cannot encroach on that lane which we have reserved for them. This is democratisation of the road and I will defend it.”
