Einstein 'God Letter' Auction Opens with Anonymous $3 Million Bid

Incase you are wondering if Albert Einstein believed in God or not, this letter could help you take your stand. An  auctionon eBay for the original letter handwritten by Albert Einstein in which he expresses his views on the existence of God opened on Oct. 8 and in about 10 minutes an anonymous bidder named o***h(wondering who) had placed the first offer at the opening price of $3 million.

In the letter,EINSTEIN calls BELIEF IN RELIGION & GOD "pretty childish" and somewhat ridicules the idea that the Jews are a chosen people.
Eric Gazin, president of Auction Cause, the agency managing the sale, told LiveScience in an email;
"This is the most historic and significant piece we have listed on eBay,"  "We are excited to offer a person or organization an opportunity to own perhaps one of the most intriguing 20th-century documents in existence. This personal letter from Einstein represents the nexus of science, theology, reason and culture."
Einstein handwrote the letter in German to Jewish philosopher Eric B. Gutkind on Jan. 3, 1954, a year before Einstein's death. The letter was a response to Gutkind's book "Choose Life: The Biblical Call to Revolt" (1952, H. Schuman; 1st edition).
Part of the letter reads:
"For me the Jewish religion like all other religions is an incarnation of the most childish superstitions. And the Jewish people to whom I gladly belong and with whose mentality I have a deep affinity have no different quality for me than all other people. As far as my experience goes, they are also no better than other human groups, although they are protected from the worst cancers by a lack of power. Otherwise I cannot see anything 'chosen' about them," as translated from German by Joan Stambaugh. Religious Mysteries: 8 Alleged Relics of Jesus

Gutkind in his book had suggested that unlike the mass hypnosis spoiling mankind at the time, "The soul of the Jewish people was never a mass-soul. Israel's soul could not be hypnotized; it never succumbed to hypnotic assaults. … The soul of Israel is incorruptible."

In a March 24, 1954 letter, he is quoted as writing, "It was, of course, a lie what you read about my religious convictions, a lie which is being systematically repeated. I do not believe in a personal God and I have never denied this but have expressed it clearly. If something is in me which can be called religious then it is the unbounded admiration for the structure of the world so far as our science can reveal it."
In the letter to Gutkind, Einstein wrote the word God was "nothing more than the expression and product of human weaknesses, the Bible a collection of honorable, but still primitive legends which are nevertheless pretty childish."

The letter to Gutkind has been stored in a temperature-, humidity- and light-controlled environment at an academic institution specializing in the care of cultural heritage collections, according to an eBay description. Since the letter has been known among scientists for more than 50 years, the description reads, its authenticity has never been questioned. The letter is in its original envelope, holding a stamp and postmark from Princeton, N.J, where Einstein lived toward the end of his life.

Since Albert is no longer here for us to ask any questions, the letter hopefully can help answer any questions and doubts about his religion.

WHY NOW? DANNY DeVITO & RHEA PERLMAN

You must heard that One of Hollywood's longest-lasting couples, Danny DeVito and Rhea Perlman, have separated.Thirty years after saying "I do," the couple announced through a spokesperson on Monday that they are separating.

DeVito, 67, and Perlman, 64, met in 1970 when she went to see a friend in an off-Broadway play, "The Shrinking Bride," according to PEOPLE magazine. After the show Perlman went out to eat with the cast, which included DeVito. Instantly smitten, they moved in together two weeks later, but waited until January 1982 to marry.
They have three adult children — Lucy, 29, Grace, 27, and Jacob, almost 25.

So i really want to ask, why seperate now at this point in thier marriage and in thier lives? It is like they have gone all the way.......To have stayed this long in Mighty Hollywood, it's really sad to hear they have seperated. They will have to start all over again or something close and believe me, it is not going to be easy...but they know best and i hope it does not become some old age mistake.

PROF. JEGA;INEC BROKE????

This is serious!!!!! How on earth can the whole INEC be broke? Nigeria!!!! Some things should not even be news, it should not be heard. So, INEC is broke and some people want pay increase? What will save this country???

Chairman of INEC, Prof. Attahiru Jega has revealed to members of the House of Representatives Committee on Electoral Matters, who visited INEC headquarters in Abuja, yesterday.
Dr. Abdulkadir Sulaiman, who represented Prof. Jega, said: “If we don’t do anything about it on time, we may not be able to pay salary by next month.”
Following this development, the chairman called on the legislators to quickly intervene and save the situation, else the commission’s aspiration of conducting the 2015 general election in line with international best practices would be a mirage.
He also told the visiting legislators, led by the Chairman of the Committee, Mr. Jerry Manwe, that the paucity of fund had drastically slowed down the pace of work on all the capital projects being executed by the commission.
According to him, no other release has reached INEC as the second quarter release did not come directly to the commission.
Jega said: “Of the N35 billion earmarked for the commission in the 2012 budget, only N10 billion was released to the commission in March. That was seven months ago.
“The second quarter of the money was released to the commission last month, September.”
“However, it was not sent directly to the commission, it was lodged in the Treasury Savings Account under the office of the Accountant-General of the Federation. The commission is yet to access this fund.

“It has sent complaint to the Minister of Finance, requesting for exemption from the TSA scheme in view of the autonomy granted this commission in the 1999 Constitution and the 2010 Electoral Act.
“The commission is still awaiting the Minister’s response. And in view of the fact that the N10 billion released to the commission is quite low, the commission has to suspend most of its projects, pending the time the remaining money is released.

He said the projects include renovation of INEC offices nationwide, printing of permanent voter cards, purchase of 100 KVA power generating sets in INEC offices nationwide, construction of residences of INEC Resident Commissioners, and electrification of state offices of INEC.

MITT ROMNEY SEEING THE GREEN LIGHT????

American Politics is just so sweet, interesting....as an African, there is so much to learn. It is different from wht we know as Politics and Election.
I love President Obama.....he will always be an inspiration. He makes great speeches and very good with the crowd but unfortunately,Debates are not speeches! He was not really forth coming in this first debate, not the same Obama.
AS much as many people love the Democrats, you never should rule out the Republicans. If you do that, you do it at your own peril. It is a tight race and after yesterday's debate, it was clear that Mitt Romney can seriously compete with the president for his Hot Seat. He too can run the job.

It is beginning to look like a spin in his favour and the man is seriously capitalising on it.It is a whole new ball game and it is going to get even tighter.Obama's weak first performance was in keeping with other recent first debates for incumbent presidents. George W. Bush in 2004, his father, George H.W. Bush, in 1992 and Ronald Reagan in 1984 all had difficult first debates after being deferred to during their first four years as president.

At this point, a strong debate may not be enough for Mitt Romney but it is a plus. The Republicans can continue to claim the bragging right on his important first debate but we will not be carried away. There is so much power for Obama as the president.
Campaign manager Jim Messina said Obama was not worried about trying to shoehorn the attacks on Romney into a fact-filled and detail-heavy debate on economic policy.
"We've always treated the American voters with respect," White House adviser David Plouffe said when asked if Obama had been too detailed. "Are you saying they can't understand details of his healthcare plan, or of Medicare?"
Messina, asked if the famously wordy Obama would work on keeping his answers shorter, smiled and said, "That's never going to be our strong suit."
STill keeping faith with Barack!
